Friends of Sierra Rock Art -Tahoe National Forest
Archaeological Site Monitoring Program
The Friends of Sierra Rock Art (FSRA) and the Tahoe National Forest (TNF) are very pleased to announce a Refresher Archaeological Site Monitoring Class on June 14, 2008. The workshop will be held at 9AM at the Big Bend Ranger Station of the Tahoe National Forest off of I-80. This all day session follows up the successful year the program experienced in previous years.
This class is for new monitors and is a refresher for those who already have taken the class. Bring lunch, water, camera, clip board, hiking clothes and footwear, compass, hat, pen and pencil, paper, snacks, and anything else you take out monitoring. The workshop will start with classroom instruction which will include a brief practice session in artifact illustration. Later monitors will receive in-the-field training.
If interested contact Bill Slater at (530) 478.6286 or bslater@fs.fed.us or Nolan Smith at (530) 367.2224 or nwsmith@fs.fed.us if you plan on attending or wish further information.
Persons participating in the program will need to join FSRA ($15/indivdual $25/family) and sign a volunteer agreement with the USFS as well as a monitor/non-disclosure agreement.
